Kaftan Kulture

Kaftan Kulture

An essential to pack for any summer trip, a kaftan is every girl’s go to. In its true fashion a kaftan is a loose- fitting robe that has full sleeves resembling a tunic with a deep open neck or is completely open; sporting as the perfect beach cover up after some fun in the sun. Nowadays, you can find kaftans in a variety of styles that range in length, fit, and materials. But, if we are going back to basics, the kaftan, debatably originated in Persia around 600 B.C. then was reintroduced in West Russia in the 1890s, it then continued to make a comeback throughout the years. And guess what? They are the talk of the town again and are not settling to be left in your beach bag.

In some cultures, kaftans were set-aside for the royals, so prepare to look like a queen thanks to Innika Choo. My pastel pink Innika Choo kaftan is crafted by hand, exuding a bohemian elegance due to the delicate floral embroidery and whimsical bishop sleeves. I simply adore the fun baby doll essence of this kaftan because it pairs so well with converse or espadrilles (like these ones is blush). The modest and minimalistic silhouette of kaftans offers more versatility in a year-round wardrobe. Don’t be scared to get creative and adapt your kaftan as street style in the Fall or as outerwear in the Winter with your favorite knee high boots. A kaftan is the key to elevating any outfit from regular to regal.
