NYFW Part 2

As days progressed the weather forecasts showed no signs of easing on the cold front but the arctic conditions could not stop the fashionistas navigating the icy streets of New York. It seems nowadays the best style is found off the runway; as is evident by the lustworthy outifts seen on showgoers all over the city. One trend that made a strong come back and was especially appropriate for the chilly conditions this season was the trusty puffer jacket! Long, cropped, oversized and in an array of colors, the puffer jacket was everywhere! Personally fashion week is always such an inspiring time to absorb all the latest tendencies in the fashion world and gear up for future projects.

The rest of the week was literally a blur as time flew by in the blink of an eye. It was so lovely to be able to recognize a lot of people from prior NYFW seasons and catch up with them at shows and parties.

As you have probably seen from previous seasons one of the funnest parts of fashion week for me is playing around with different hairstyles. This season was all about braids and my girl Shaneek created some cool styles like the boxer braids and the fishtail milkmaid braided updo.

Although actually attending all the events is the highlight of fashion month, the prep is where all the magic happens as we carefully curate our outfits for the upcoming events. I am always on the hunt for new designers and brands, and I do my best to scour my favorite stores to find the best additions to each season's wardrobe. On my last shopping trip in London, I came across the new collection from Ganni and absolutely fell in love. This Danish family owned company delivers on its mission to fill in a gap in the contemporary market to provide effortless, easy-to-wear pieces. The burnt orange, Iona silk 2 piece below was a statement outfit that drew my attention and I instantly knew I wanted to pair it with The Nude London oversized wool green coat and these dreamy velvet Aquazzura lace-up boots. I then finished it all off by throwing on a pair of Wyeth Eyewear sunglasses (check them out, they give out to charity with every purchase) making it a great outfit to shoot between shows.

My second look was a reminder that your winter coat should never be boring. The item that stole the show was the House of Harlow X Revolve Margeaux Coat, which I layered over a faux leather camisole and a Finery London Turtleneck sweater. This pair of wide leg jeans are my absolute favorite and are by designer Sonia Rykiel. Then I threw on a pair of blush toned aviator sunglasses by Perverse and the most comfortable Dear France booties that were on constant repeat throughout the week. I feel like this look definitely had a more youthful tone to it and I enjoyed playing with the different layers and throwing in some print in the mix.

This concludes my NYFW diaries! Stayed tuned for my next adventure: San Francisco.
