Riveting Red at Cafe

One of my little indulgences is heading down to Cafe Midi on a weekday. Whether it’s to relax with a book and get some down time to myself, or to catch up with friends over a coffee, Cafe Midi is one of those hidden gems. Taking the time to do those little things that make me happy is really important, and often it’s the simple things in life that bring the most joy.

If you’ve not been to Cafe Midi, of course I highly recommend a trip. With the quirky and eclectic interior, I find it difficult not to feel inspired by the design of Cafe Midi, which is found within the American Rag store. I’m regularly spotting pieces I love and finding it very difficult not to take them home with me, and often find myself later scouring the internet to find similar items to fill my home with (if I didn’t end up indulging in store of course!). American Rag is really packed full of unusual items, with the walls stacked high with shelves full of colorful crockery, beautifully unusual pictures on the walls, racks of vintage clothing and glass cabinets full of trinkets and antiques.

What’s more, the food is delicious, the cafe is reminiscent of a Parisian sidewalk cafe, but in the heart of LA, in both style and cuisine. You can head down any time of the day and grab some amazing food, or even just a coffee or a refreshing juice and do a spot of people watching.

So when I put this red ensemble together that got me reminiscing of Europe I knew I wanted to pop down to Café Midi for an iced latte and shoot it there. For this look I wore a kimono structured top by CMEO Collective in scarlet red with a beautifully high neck and a belted waist. I am positively obsessed with Australian brands as of late and CMEO Collective designs are so inventive and seem to go from strength to strength every season. I teamed this with a pleated polka dot skirt by Mcq by Alexander Mcqueen. This loose midi skirt is perfect to offset the rigid nature of the top and together makes for an ultra-elegant outfit.

Finally, I finished off my look with classic strappy heels by Givenchy and a snakeskin print clutch by LK Bennet to tie it altogether.
