Spring Print

Spring Print

Beautiful LA days call for beautiful mixed print outfits. Spring weather in So Cal has been bipolar as usual, but on sunny days like this one I feel more inspired to dress Spring-ish. Automatically when I think of fun, California vibe type of designs I think of my all-time fave, Rachel Roy.

Her line for Macy’s has been on my radar for quite some time and even when I lived in London, every trip to the States included a visit to a Macy’s store to pick up some new Rachel Roy goodies. In fact, Macy’s has carried the line for over seven years which is an astonishing achievement in the fast paced fashion world and just goes to show that her formula of on-trend designs at democratic prices really works!

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I absolutely love pushing the boundaries and mixing different prints. This mint collarless blouse and cupid printed jacquard sweater skirt compliment each other so well that they make mixing prints look easy. So what’s my secret to making mixed prints work you might ask? Well for one I try to mix prints that are in the same color family. Also what I find works well is pairing a bolder print like this geometric design on the skirt with a more delicate and dainty print like the splatter motif on the shirt to create a more balanced look. Although mixing prints is not an exact science and takes some trial and error, keep these tips in mind when you are putting fun outfits together.
